My students need play dough, Green Apples game, Guess Who?, puzzles, playing cards, building blocks and balance chairs for indoor recess during fire/smoke season and cold winter days!
Our school year hasn't started yet, but this is my third year teaching amazing third grade students. Third grade is a great year for developing academically, socially, emotionally, and creatively! It's always so fascinating to watch these students transform and grow throughout the year! Third grade is the year where students are introduced to more challenging activities and more in-depth and inspiring ways of thinking! I learn a great deal from my students each year and I can't wait to see what this year holds! Here's to another great year!
My Project
For this project, I am hoping for activities and games to keep my awesome third graders engaged while building social skills and character development. Interacting with one another through structured fun is a great way to develop many skills in a positive environment. I am also wishing for a couple exercise balls to add to my center/game table. The exercise balls will add an exciting seating option for the students and have many benefits such as: balance, increased attention, increased productivity, plus they are fun! These games, activities, and ball chairs will make a much needed improvement in our classroom!
Help!
Indoor recess, Friday Free Time, and my math and reading center activities need some love! This is my third year teaching third grade and my game shelf is a tad bare. My students could utilize these resources throughout the day. Indoor recess, unfortunately, occurs more than I would like. School usually starts back towards the end of fire season. Often times, the smoke in the air prohibits the students to play outside safely. Plus, fall and winter rain, snow, and temperatures, create indoor recess times as well. My students could really use these games to occupy their bodies and minds during recess. Plus, it saves my sanity!! Curriculum can easily be added to games by having students answer a fact/problem before taking their turn. Jenga and playing cards are great examples of this. The play doh, I like to have on the students' desks on the first day of school. They can come in, create, and then write about it later in the day. This is a great way for me to get beginning of the year writing sample. Checkers is always a class favorite! These supplies would be much appreciated. Fun, interactive, and educational all in one!
