My Students

My students may come from meager means, humble homes, and fractured families, but they come eager and excited to learn. My Title I school houses students K-8 and provides each and everyone with not only breakfast and lunch but a classroom that serves as a home.

They are not just my students but my family, and each year I am lucky enough to begin a school year with new members.

While my family continues to grow, their needs continue to be met with proper support and dedication.

My Project

Walking back into a classroom after being home for a year can be a challenge for any student. It is my hope that as I begin to welcome back my second grade students into the school building, I maintain the comfort, safety and community established while teaching virtually. To keep my students engaged and on a successful track, I want to make sure that focus and attention remain on appropriate tasks and assignments.

Recognizing those that try their best, participate, exhibit school values and appropriate behavior not only aids to intrinsic motivation but sets a great example to fellow peers.

Students will have the opportunity to earn pets and accessories through an established school-wide point system. The idea of using "pets" as a classroom management tool is one that students be able to use throughout the school year, adding to the animals habitat, food and friends for earning class points.
