Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As a teacher, I am determined to keep things exciting and relevant in my classroom. I want to provide my students with fun, creative, and meaningful learning experiences.
My students are creative, clever, and each are so unique.
Each love to work on the programs we have in the classroom and earn rewards based on performance. For many of my students school is the only place they have a warm meal, a structured and supportive environment, and any sense of security. These things may prevent them from getting ahead early in life and may not provide them with the life experiences many of us see as "typical". From the minute they walk in the door of my classroom I focus on their potential and growth. I may not be able to control their home lives, however, I can certainly control their experience during the school day. By doing this in a creative and positive way, I am hopeful to inspire even our earliest learners to continue on a path of academic growth and success.
My Project
By requesting the portable air conditioner, my students will be able to manage and control their environments temperature which will allow them to be comfortable during their day, and focus more on the content being taught.
Students are more attentive, focused and happier when learning in comfortable temperatures.
My goal is to create an environment that is the most conducive to student learning.
When students are in your class, teachers want to know what they have learned. The most common way of measuring knowledge is by testing their skills. Research has shown that several factors other than knowledge have an impact on student performance. These include noise during testing, language, student’s mood, whether the student had enough rest before the test, and room temperature.
Students are more attentive, focused and happier when learning in comfortable temperatures. According to a study completed by students under the supervision of several teachers, the results showed that students classrooms that were at a comfortable 72-degree temperatures performed better academically than those being tested in rooms kept too cold or too warm.
I work at a public school and do not control the temperature in our room. Most days it is 85 degrees. Every day we have a constant battle with the fans and opening and closing the doors to let some air flow through. I am positive with this portable air conditioner my students will be more focused and eager to master 3rd grade!
