My Students
My students come from all walks of life, creating a diverse classroom where they learn from one another on a daily basis. I want them to grow up to be critical thinkers and life-long learners who are compassionate, empathetic, and cognizant of anyone and everyone. The students who I have the pleasure of teaching are absolutely amazing. I may be partial, but they are thoughtful teenagers who are going to change the world!
It is time to invest in their futures now, by bringing them the best educational tools to help them succeed in their current and future endeavors in order to create innovative leaders of the future with social-emotional intelligence to build their character, kindness, mindfulness, and empathy.
I try to do this every day, but it really does take a village!
My Project
Students are receiving an education to build their knowledge; however, their social-emotional and mental health development are being neglected while at school. In today's society, it is imperative that the whole child is developed to avoid negative situations that are becoming all too common in schools.
These materials will be used to increase strategies to be used in diverse situations, play games, build class and school climate and community, and become more mindful in order to build teens' character to be compassionate, kind, empathetic, and more in tune with their own feelings.
The books "School Centered Interventions", "A Still Quiet Place", "The MindUP Curriculum", "Boost Emotional Intelligence in Students", and "What Do You Stand For?" will be used to teach concepts to improve their self-esteem, reaction to stress, conflict resolution, and how they interact with others overall. The games and cards will be used to role play and have fun while developing social and emotional developmental skills. The dividers will be given to students in the advisory class to promote organization and academic achievement to ensure success.
