Positive Behavioral Interventions Supports: Reward Kids for Positive Habits
Help me give my students books to be imaginative, art supplies to be creative, sports equipment to be active and healthy, technology to learn on the go, and two grand prizes (Tablets)!
BMS is a melting pot of what is right in Portage County. Our students are a diverse group who come from all walks of life. We pull students from rural, urban, and suburban areas, and our community is here to help them be Responsible, Respectful, and In Control. BMS is committed to meeting the physical, social, emotional, and psychological needs of our kids.
The BMS PBIS Rewards Program is going to help staff and students at BMS build both a positive and restorative culture.
We will equip our students so they can their lives with positive habits, and some of the ways this will be achieved are listed below:
1. "Randy Rewards" Drawings: BMS staff provide Randy Rewards to students who exhibit traits of being Respectful, Responsible, and In Control. Students can enter their Randy Rewards to be drawn for prizes like gift cards, school spirit wear, and tickets to school athletic and social events.
2. Grade-Level Prizes and Rewards: Grade Levels receive rewards for winning competitions that reinforce good habits; for example, "Best Attendance", "Most Positive Behavior Referrals",
3. Events during lunch: Students can trade in their Randy Rewards for activities that will take place during lunch like participating in events on the athletic fields, contests, and other opportunities.
4. Students of the Month: Once a month academic departments select a student who embodies the Raven spirit. The students get invited to a pizza party and receive a prize.
5. Positive Referrals: BMS staff select students who they feel deserve extra recognition for their display of Raven spirit traits and refer these students to their grade-level administrator for a brief conference and some Randy Rewards cash, a phone call home, and/or positive note sent home.
