My students have more difficulty with managing their behaviors due to the past few years from COVID-19. They often need more external motivators and more engaging tools and spaces to help them engage in learning. They often need these supplies to engage more in learning either academics and social emotional skills. Middle school students and upper elementary students need a lot more support and targeted SEL learning in order to build their SEL skills. Their social interactions tend to be inappropriate and negative, which impacts their ability to resolve conflict, persevere through challenging events and interact in healthy positive ways. These items will help me provide a calm and safe space where they can learn skills to help them grow and develop coping skills and SEL skills. My students also learn better using hands on things, so the stem kits will help them see the fun in learning. My students often will work more when they can receive incentives. Things like snacks are very useful as motivators for our students.
