Positive Behavior Student Store

My students need incentives, such as games, Legos, and fidget spinners for good behavior. We are in the second year of the Positive Behavior Intervention System, and the District has slashed our funding. We cannot purchase all the fun rewards for good behavior.

My Students

This is a great group of Oakland kids. We are a low income school, with more than 85% of our students qualifying for free or reduced-price lunches. The students are mainly African-American. About a third are Hispanic-American.

These kids are hard workers, and they really want to please their teachers and parents.

They are a happy, healthy, playful group. They work well with each other, and are good at following the rules. I guess, to me, they are a bunch of little angels!

My Project

We try to catch kids being good: showing safe, caring, prepared, or responsible behavior. Then we give them Scholar Dollars. They can spend this money for activities, or in the student store, which is supposed to be stocked with items that are exciting for kids.

The problem is, our school district cut our discretionary funds, which makes it impossible to stock the student store, which diminishes the value of the entire "good behavior economy".

Teachers try to make up for the lack of behavior incentives by going into their own pockets to buy fun things for the kids to spend their Scholar Dollars on.

Please help us to make a positive change in behavior for our students. Bring back the joy that working hard for a Scholar Dollar paycheck can bring by helping us stock games, Legos, fidget spinners and more! Thanks for your support.
