Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I believe in the importance of teaching about finance and the economy at an early age. Middle school is a great place to implement a classroom economy. The students will have to "pay desk rent" weekly. They will also need to "work jobs" to earn money. The students can also earn "Class Cash" with positive behavior, like coming to class prepared or staying on task.

My students will be learning about spending "needs" and "wants".

After students pay their weekly "desk rent" they will be able to spend any leftover "money" at the class store. The store will consist of fidget toys, snacks, bracelets, fun pencils, headphones, etc.

The students at my school come from mostly low-income households. They need to learn about personal finances to help them be responsible spenders in the future.
