Positive Behavior Management for the Library!

Help me give my students a fun, positive behavior management system. Colorful lanyards can be used for grouping the students and for displaying the beads they earn for good behavior and brag tags for reading books.

My Project

I'm so proud of our small special-needs inclusion school and our students! Each one of our students has amazing talents and specific needs that we do our best to meet.

It's important to have a very straightforward behavior system so that our students know exactly what we expect and receive small rewards often.

This project will provide supplies so that students can choose a lanyard in their favorite color and earn reward beads to pin onto their lanyard.

Since our school mascot is the lion, our value system is "ROAR" - Respect, Optimism, Achievement, and Responsibility. Students who are "caught" doing things to fulfill these values can earn corresponding letter beads.

I will also make brag tags, which are small laminated pictures of book covers. Students who read these books can pin a brag tag onto their lanyard. Students can also earn the fun-shaped beads for general positive behavior, such as focusing on their work, being quiet during work time, and participating in group activities.

Because the beads and brag tags are small, inexpensive rewards, they can be given to the students immediately and pinned onto their lanyards. Immediate rewards are important for our students even as they approach middle school.
