Working outside on beautiful spring day would be wonderful!
My fifth graders are hardworking students, who have faced many challenges in their young lives.
They live in a community that was devastated by a tornado just two years ago. They are active, smart, and independent, but many of my students qualify for free-or-reduced priced lunch and live below the poverty line.
My Project
I would love to take my students out to the school's garden area to work on writing or other assignments, but we don't have a flat, hard surface for them to write on. We need eight lap desks, in a variety of patterns and colors, to allow students to work outside, and around, the classroom.
Currently, my students love to take our bean bag chairs and "read around the room", and with a variety of fun, flat, and portable lap desks, they will be able to write around the room, too!
