"Could you make it louder? We can't hear." That's the refrain when students are listening to audio on our computers. Two of our desktops don't have speakers so we really need to add sound to our classroom, the learning kind. Speakers and headsets would really give our projects a boost.
I teach in a New York City public school in the borough of Queens.
We are one of the most diverse areas of the nation and the international school community we serve is a reflection of our city. The students in my class speak many languages and share their rich cultures to enhance our global perspectives. The students are motivated enthusiastic learners with high expectations. Our school is charged with the responsibility of meeting those expectations and providing the best resources to ensure academic success. The necessary tools for education constantly change and are always in need of upgrades to remain relevant to students. Our school is an exciting place to learn.
My Project
We are requesting a number of portable speakers and two headsets for our classroom. Our computers lack the ability to project the sound we need to be heard in a classroom with many students. Collaborations and sharing require the ability to hear when it comes to sharing multimedia STEM and social studies projects. Audio is particularly important when we create and share video projects. It brings a presentation to life. Because we have several computers I am requesting enough portable speakers for students to use and share. We also need two head sets that allow us to record and focus while not disturbing others who are working. The speakers are affordable and loud enough to project the sound we need. They are also easily charged for extended use.
Having the right equipment to develop projects makes all the difference in how students can work.
Portable speakers are small in size and huge in impact. The flexibility those portable speakers will give us to work with our laptops anywhere will make such a difference. We'll finally be able to hear students' work as a class. The headsets are the perfect companion piece while we are working and we won't interfere with others working on projects while we wear them. We can't wait to get started
