Welcome to our little classroom full of students that seek to participate in everything they have available to them. Many of my band students are also in my choir, and also in my drama class. A significant number of students are also two or three-sport athletes in addition to thriving as musicians.
These kids may come from a small school and small town, but their dreams and ambitions suggest otherwise.
Their hearts are caring and welcoming to all around them. The students at this school strive for excellence with the few options they have surrounding them. They love to joke and be silly but know when it's time to work. We build a strong sense of community within our classroom each day.
My Project
Our classroom is the cleanest it has ever been but there is still a long way to go. We have over 50 stands that students use each day to hold their music. After rehearsals, the stands are all over the room simply because they have no place to go.
Because the space in the room is limited, this stand cart is essential to get all items off the ground in an organized manner.
Through this project, not only is the room becoming clean and organized, it teaches the students individual responsibility to clean up their surroundings. Each student becomes accountable for their own materials and, together, this creates a well organized and clean band room that allows the students to grow as young musicians.
