My Students

This project will help benefit 6th, 7th, and 8th grade learners in the Kirkland, Washington community. This group of students is bright, highly motivated, and exceptionally creative; all of whom thrive in a classroom setting rich with engaging discourse and student-centered learning opportunities. The school my students attend is a part of the Lake Washington School District, which is one of the largest districts in the state.

My students love interacting with each other, experimenting with new technology and growing together as both a class, and as students.

My Project

This microphone will be a great too to utilize in fishbowl discussions, class debates, and daily class discussions. In a language arts class, it is imperative that students not only hear my ideas, but are able to hear from a diverse group of their peers. This engaging microphone will pull even the most reluctant and quiet students into the discussions we have in class. This year, in particular I am struggling to get ALL students to participate and feel like a valued member of the class. I am seeking additional means and opportunities to incentivize even the more introverted and quieter students to speak up and let their thoughts be known. The success of a Language Arts and Social Studies class is dependent on how rich and varied class discussion are, and this project will allow me to build on that skill within the classroom.
