This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Centered in the diverse and engaging neighborhood of Williamsburg. My students are committed in putting their best foot forward. My 5th grade students are always thinking of ways to enhance their skills as writers, readers, historians, mathematicians and critical thinkers.
Interactive and engaging activities are at the center of great learning and this is something our school is great for.
We are currently implementing a program called Leader In Me to help not only serve students academically but also holistically to meet the needs of our students as a whole.
My Project
This project is intended to promote a higher interest Spanish reading in my students. These titles are books they are familiar with. I want to engage my students with books and activities of their interest. A large group of my students last year really liked soccer, but the books I was able to borrow from the library were at a very high level. The soccer books and Harry Potter books are better tailored to my student's needs. The texts in my cart are accompanied by illustrations for my Spanish language learners. Please support us by helping our student have access to fun and engaging books they love to read in English.
