Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our elementary school is located in Long Beach, CA. Our school is very diverse; our students come from a wide range of racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Our students are curious and inquisitive and they love to learn. Students love library time and it is very important to me that students are able to find books that are engaging.
Our library, though, is in need of your support.
We do not have a dedicated budget and we rely on fundraisers and the generosity of community members.
My Project
Our library is heavily used and many of our most popular books are never on the shelves! Students have brought it to my attention that many of our popular series are incomplete or in need of upgrades.
This project will complete our 3 most popular series: Dork Diaries, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, and Captain Underpants!
Moreover, this project will put Newbery Award winning books on our shelves, along with books featuring diverse characters.
Your generous donations will ensure that students do not leave the library empty-handed and that they will be able to continue reading the books that they love most of all!
