This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students love be vocal and can be very creative when given the opportunity. As their teacher, I strive to create as many opportunities for each child to express themselves through exploration, collaboration and communication.

I have a group of highly engaged first graders!

In our classroom, we have diverse learning needs, we move around and manipulate hands-on materials daily. Therefore, we choose to collaborate by building a community that develops communication and creativity skills to meet each child's unique needs.

My Project

Becoming word detections is our mission in my first grade classroom. We are a close-knit community of learners at a Title I school. Many of scholars lack essential phonological skills needed to read and decode words. These resources will allow students to learning decoding strategies that are hands on. Using these resources will reach my lower readers and help to bridge the gap to be on grade level. Students will use these hands on materials to segment and blend words, write and build words and to become masters at mapping out words.
