My Project
Building foundational reading skills is one of the most important jobs of a first grade teacher. It can also be a teacher's biggest challenge. Some students come into my class with a love of reading, while others are more reluctant. Some can read every word in a story, while others struggle to recall the sounds of the letters. To help students of all abilities find joy in reading, I find it best to build their skills through fun and games.
Being able to read opens up a world of possibilities for each student.
To help open that door for all of my students I am asking for some new reading games. Not only do these games build critical reading skills, but they will also hone in on my students sensory needs. These fidget popping reading games will be used during small group instruction. They are also differentiated to meet the needs of all my students. Each game focuses on a different skill set. Once a student masters that set, we can move on to a more difficult skill. One of the games can even be used to build on math skills such as addition, subtraction, and telling time. I would love to add these fidget games to part of our reading and math routine.
