My students are inner city students. I service students from Kindergarten through the eighth grade. We also have a preschool classroom within our school. Many of my students live in the neighborhood and walk to school. Our school services a large student population both before and after school.
As a result, there are students who are in school as early as 6 AM and as late as 6 PM.
All of my students are eligible to receive the school breakfast and lunch for free.
My Project
We host a Fun Friday for our students when they have earned the opportunity to watch a movie based on a merit system for good attendance and the behavior focus of the month. Students are rewarded for making good choices over the course of the month. This merit system allows us to recognize students for exhibiting good choices on a monthly basis.
The commercial popcorn maker will be utilized at a variety of school functions including Fun Friday's (monthly), Fun & Fit Night in April, Middle School Dances, School Play Performances and our school wide Field Day held in June.
