My Project
We do not have a covered area to use while we plant our seeds for the garden, so we always get super hot when it's sunny and a little wet when it's rainy. The pop-up tent and folding table will become our makeshift potting shed that we can take down and put away at the end of the day. We will use the trash can to hold the potting mix that we will mix ourselves and the trays will hold the pots that we will plant our seeds in. We will also use those trays to sprout the seeds that will go into our hydroponic system when we get that up and running.
Having a garden takes a lot of work and requires a lot of supplies.
Having these supplies for this project will make our potting process much more streamlined and we can plant more seedlings to go into the garden or even into the community for gardens they may have. My students will go through the entire process from planting the seeds, planting the seedlings into the raised beds, harvesting the plants when they are ready, and eating the plants to learn how to live off the land. I am excited to see what plants become the favorites of my students and maybe we will have enough to share with others as well.
