Help me give my students a multi-sensory, highly engaging, Pop-It fidget tool to enhance their early literacy skills in phonemic awareness as well as colorful pens to engage young writers in the writing process.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The students who attend my school are the most eager learners I have had the privilege to work with. My students' interests are sparked with hands-on learning and, as a result, are easily engaged in any new experiences they encounter.
Every child qualifies for free breakfast and lunch.
This type of population is generally a grade level below peers in non-Title I schools. Even though my students come in low, they have the greatest potential for learning, and I want to maximize that opportunity to the best of my ability.
My Project
Pop-Its are very popular in schools right now! Something as engaging as Pop-Its, a multi-sensory tool, can engage my students to practice hands on phonemic awareness, phonics, and spelling.
As a result of many academic disadvantages during foundational school years, my students have entered third grade significantly below grade level in English Language Arts.
I can begin to fill those gaps by engaging my students with multi-sensory tools that are of high interest.
Colorful pens engage students in the writing process. Adding color to organize paragraphs on the rough draft makes this part of the process more fun to produce work.
