My school is a Title I-funded school and is in a small rural area. Many students are from low-income families. We have a 30% population of EL (English Language) students, just in our elementary school. We are in need of some rewards for our students for our annual fundraiser that was put on hold last year due to COVID-19. Instead of doing individual prizes, we are doing class prizes. Students in each class got to vote for what type of party they wanted to have: Slime party where they each get their own jar/container of slime; Pop-it Party where they each get a pop-it toy to keep; Float party with ice cream and different types of soda; or a Pizza Party.
Many of our students are from low-income families where the simplest toy or celebration at school might be one of the only times they get to own a toy that they see other kids have.
By getting this donation, you are also helping our school by allowing us to keep the money raised in our school to use with our students instead of us needing to spend it on these prizes.
My Project
These materials will make a difference by providing a reward to our low-income students who are not often able to partake in celebrations due to a lack of funds or lack of support. The silly straws, slime, and pop-its will benefit the students because instead of using the school's fundraising monies to purchase the prizes for the classes, we will be able to keep more of the funds for future field trips, art supplies for our Art Night at school, guest speakers from science museums, the zoo, and actors to do plays and skits to teach our kids new information.
The donations will allow us to keep the profits from our fundraiser in our building to benefit all of our students at the school as they will be able to study and create art projects, learn from field trips to places they haven't been before, and learn by interacting with guest speakers who teach and awe the students with what they can do.
We truly appreciate any help you can give to keep our student's money within our school so they can benefit from it for years to come.
