As many already know, 5th graders are the best! 5th graders are goofy, sensitive, chatty, intelligent, kind, wonderful, and they are hard workers. I am with my 5th graders all day for reading, math, social studies, and writing. As of now, we have a classroom of 24 diverse learners.
Almost half of our students returned to the building in September for the first time since March 2020.
Coming back to in-person learning can both be exciting and nerve-wracking for students. Whether virtual or in-person, our students have been working extremely hard.
Our city is the poorest large city in the United States. Though we have many beautiful prestigious universities, where one out of every six doctors in the United States has received their medical degree, we also have neighborhoods that are in food deserts and filled with poverty and violence.
My students come each and every day ready to learn. They are joyful, respectful, and eager to learn. They deserve only the best, and DonorsChoose has been instrumental in making sure they get the best.
My Project
Pop its have been the latest craze in 5th grade. This year alone we probably have given away at least 50-70 pop its as prizes. Each week my students get to choose a prize from me if they completed the optional morning work throughout the week. Students also get to pick prizes with my co-teacher if they complete the week's homework. We also give prizes for behavior and as special treats.
