Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The students in our school are culturally diverse. They work hard and are eager to learn. More than half of them come from low-income families. We have many students of special needs as well as many that are recent immigrants. Together they speak over twenty, different languages. In addition, they all have different learning abilities and learning styles. They are energetic and curious about learning.

As a Title I school in a largely immigrant community, we strive each day to teach our children practical life skills such as financial literacy.

We do so through creative tools and fundraisers, such as selling popcorn that we will make with our new popcorn machine to teach them sales, marketing, and finance (i.e., costs, revenue, profit). A donation will help us procure supplies for these machines so that they can be operable and achieve our educational objectives for their use. We would love to be able to use our popcorn machine to have much-needed school fundraisers that will benefit our students. The current pandemic situation has put us under huge financial strain. We rely on fundraising for many of the amazing things that take place in our school. We will be using the popcorn machine for our Fall Fair.

We need popcorn machine supplies as well . We will use these for a much-needed fundraiser and to teach our students the financial literacy skills needed to sell and make a profit.Our students are learning how to use spreadsheets and this will be a very engaging way to use what they are learning and apply it to selling popcorn by creating spreadsheets for our Fall Fair.
