My students need polymer clay to create their own jewelry. There is a jewelry class for credit during the day and I have a jewelry club in the school library after school.
Future Jewelry Designer! Help our students to become entrepreneurs by creating and marketing their own jewelry.
We are a melting pot of many cultures in our school.
Our kids speak over 53 Languages. Our jewelry club is diverse as well with males and females making up the membership.
Although it is our goal as educators to see every student go to college, the reality is that many students will choose the job market instead. The jewelry club may be a way for some to start their own business.
One of the goals of the club is to teach students how to market their jewelry and even teach them how to set up an online store on ETSY.com.
There will be a community service component to the club as well. Students will have to choose a staff member at the school, interview them and create a piece of jewelry for them.
With the help from Donorschoose.org we will be able to meet all of our goals.
My Project
We will be purchasing polymer clay in various colors. This clay is easy to work with and easy to learn. Students will be able to use this clay to make their own jewelry from scratch. Our school colors are purple and white and some of the clay will reflect these colors.
Buying this clay and creating the jewelry will give these high school students some much needed job skills.
This donation will make a big difference to the students making jewelry.
With enough materials each students will be able to use their creativity to make some great pieces. They will be able to experiment with colors and texture and create just the right look they have in mind. Without an abundance of clay, students would not be able to experiment with the different styles of jewelry. Having an ample amount of clay will make all the difference to them. Thanks for you interest.
