Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The integration of Polymaker Filament, including ASA, PA-6, and PLA Pro, coupled with new filament nozzles and dryers, will significantly enhance the learning experience in our robotics and engineering lab classes.

Having a range of filaments will allow us to iterate quickly and be able to manufacturer finished and ready for competition parts in durable, technical materials.

Polymaker filaments like ASA and PA-6 provide superior durability and mechanical properties compared to standard PLA. This means that prototypes can quickly be made from PLA, and final designs created using the advanced filaments will withstand rigorous testing and real-world application scenarios, giving students a more realistic understanding of engineering challenges.

By incorporating PA-6 (Nylon) and ASA into our filament portfolio, students gain exposure to a wider range of engineering-grade materials and material science backgrounds. This exposure is crucial for their development as future engineers and problem solvers, as they learn to select the most suitable materials based on project requirements use cases, and budget. Because some of the more advanced filaments are carbon fiber reinforced, we need an upgraded nozzle to prevent damage over time and have longevity in printing. We aim to provide students with hands-on experience using advanced materials and equipment, allowing them to translate theoretical knowledge into practical solutions as they prepare to compete effectively in robotics competitions such as FIRST Robotics, fostering a spirit of creativity and excellence.

Our students possess a unique blend of creativity, curiosity, and determination that sets them apart. They thrive in hands-on learning environments where they can explore, experiment, and innovate. By providing them with access to cutting-edge materials and equipment like Polymaker Filament and new filament nozzles and dryers, we can nurture and amplify their potential, empowering them to make meaningful contributions to the field of robotics and engineering.
