My Project

This project seeks funding for soil, pots, and milkweed seeds to be sold to our school community, aimed at encouraging the survival of monarch butterflies. By engaging families in this project, we hope to foster a deeper understanding of environmental stewardship and biodiversity among students and their communities. By selling the plants we grow, we hope to inspire families to plant milkweed in their gardens, thereby creating a supportive environment for migrating monarchs. We will use the money to fund more fantastic gardening projects and learn entrepreneurial skills.

The soil, pots, and milkweed seeds will create a hands-on learning experience for students and their families.

By participating in the planting and nurturing of milkweed, the primary food source for monarch caterpillars, families will learn about the life cycle of butterflies, the importance of pollinators, and the challenges faced by monarchs today. This interactive approach will not only enhance their knowledge of ecological concepts but also promote responsibility and care for living organisms. Students will learn about the importance of biodiversity in gardening. By introducing milkweed and understanding its role in supporting monarch butterflies and other pollinators, they will recognize the benefits of planting a variety of crops and flowers, which can lead to healthier ecosystems in their gardens. This knowledge encourages them to incorporate diverse plants that attract beneficial insects, contributing to a productive food garden.

Our students exhibit a strong passion for environmental science and conservation. They are eager to engage with their community and make a positive impact on the environment. This project not only aligns with their interests but also empowers them to take ownership of their learning and contribute to the well-being of local wildlife.
