My Project

Each day I get to come and work with vibrant, inquisitive, amazing 6 and 7 year olds. We work at a fast-pace in our classroom, filling each day with learning and fun. Throughout the day students use a variety of different workbooks and textbooks. Storing all of these in their desks, along with a pencil box, whiteboard, and tote tray, can be a challenge.

These chair pockets will help my students keep their materials more organized; in turn, this will help them to transition from one learning activity to the next smoothly.

Transitions play a key role in a child's emotional regulation. Smooth, calm transitions help a child mentally prepare for the next task, while chaotic transitions can disrupt the sense of equilibrium in the classroom. I plan to utilize these chair pockets to help my student store their materials in a way that they can be accessed efficiently. This will help to reduce both student and teacher stress.
