This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students live in a low-income high-needs urban community, which I have loved serving for the past 13 years. We are a Title I school, where 100% of our students receive free lunch. This is a community that has endured the worst that poverty and violence has to offer but continues to overcome every challenge by rebuilding and transforming the neighborhood. This resilience and enthusiasm is reflected in our children.
My students come from diverse backgrounds, and all arrive in my classroom eager to learn, to succeed, and to feel safe and loved.
My goal as their teacher, is to make sure these needs are met every day. I want to provide them with every opportunity afforded to others. I hope you will join me!
My Project
My students are always excited for any opportunity to demonstrate their growing independence. Whether it's getting to wear a hall pass to deliver a message, be the line leader, or teach the class something new they have learned, my students relish feeling a sense of responsibility.
I love giving my students time to teach and show what they can do.
Charts for Calendar, Circle time, and Math will all offer opportunities for my students to build and reinforce new concepts. Even better, the kids will be the ones in charge of manipulating the materials and directing our lessons! Our chore chart will provide opportunities to demonstrate leadership skills, responsibility, and care for our classroom. I am excited to witness my students taking pride in their accomplishments with the help of these new materials!
