Pocket Chart Learning

My students need pocket charts for their center activities. They also need pocket chart stands, sentence strips and a storage box.

FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Washington's classroom raised $285

My Students

A typical day in my class could be described as busy. My students are eager to learn new things. My students are usually hyper little people that require some type of movement.

My school is on the south side of Chicago in a low income area.

Most of the students in this area receive free or reduced lunch. My students are bright little people with diverse needs that have the willingness to learn, if given the opportunity. I will have kindergartners through third graders in my room.

My Project

As of right now I can have a total of four different grade levels in my class at one time. I can also have a kindergartner and a third grader working at the same academic level. The majority of my students learn better when they have something they can manipulate and because of lack of space, I am not able to have stations. I am asking for pocket charts and pocket chart stands, so that they can be mobile. I will also need sentence strips so that I can make items that will fit in these charts. These pocket charts will be used as centers/stations throughout my room. The student will be able to roll them to their desk/table and they will be able to complete the activity. They will also be used during small group time to let the students know what activity they should be doing while I am working with a group. There is an activity we do where my students learn sight words and the sentence strips are used daily. I also need somewhere to store the sentence strips.

A donation to this project will give me the opportunity to give my students what they need to move ahead and to close the achievement gap between diverse learners and their general education peers a little more.

These items will give my students the chance to manipulate items in the pocket charts.
