My Project
In fourth grade, students study Washington State history.
Salmon are an important part of our state and local history, culture (especially Native Americans), ecosystem, and economy. I want to teach a unit on salmon to my 4th graders. I envision this unit meeting standards in social studies, science (as we learn the salmon life cycle), and art.
These books will help me reach my goal and will provide a variety of books for students to independently read. There are books on the life cycle of salmon, how building the Grand Coulee Dam impacted salmon and Native groups in the area, and how a class of 5th graders restored a local stream.
