My Project
I am a counselor at an elementary school that serves students from low-socioeconomic status. Often times, these students need extra time devoted in helping them develop lifelong social emotional regulation skills. These plush puppies will be used in a variety of ways. For example, they will be used in a calming corner, a book buddy, offer to be used as a calming tool. These plush puppies will also be used to reinforce positive behaviors.
I want to support not just my counseling students but all students at my school.
These stuffed animals will also help children experience the joy of connecting with a little creature, of attuning to the state of another being.
The other additional items will be used to reinforce positive behavior at our school. We want to acknowledge students when they follow the school rules by rewarding them with a simple tangible reward (animal trinkets).
