This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I first started with one stuffed Pete the Cat. My first grade students would beg to be the one to hold them while they read their book in the library. I added a couple more and then a couple more. I now have five stuffed book characters in the library for first graders to use as reading buddies. The problem is, I have over twenty students in each first grade class.

I would like to have enough plush characters so that every student has the opportunity to have a reading buddy during their class library visit.

It brings me so much joy to see the students reading to their plush buddy. It keeps them calm and their buddy isn't judgmental if they don't know the words. My students love reading to their buddies, I would love to have more to share with all of my students and then open this up to kindergarten and second grade as well.
