The music class is filled with excitement as students enter the room for strings class, and sharing the all important "moment of the day!" We tune up our instruments and get ready to play!
How wonderful it will be to have these students play in a future spring recital with great confidence!
Our after school strings program is comprised of 19 3rd through 6th grade students in beginning, intermediate, and advanced classes.
These eager young students come from all backgrounds and walks of life. Our school is just off of an island on the coast of South Carolina. Our school consists of students, eager to learn, from varied and diverse backgrounds. We are a primary school, serving children in child development through third grade. Some of our students ride a "school boat" from another small island, crossing the inter-coastal waterway (a river), to get to and from school each day. I have noted that students involved in the after school music program become more focused and engaged in their school work, as well as more responsible. They encourage and praise each other, and their self-confidence is boosted.
My Project
I have noted that students involved in the after school music program become more focused in their school work, as well as more responsible. They encourage and praise each other, and, their self-confidence is boosted. Their music knowledge increases as well as their love of music in general. They have a true sense of pride about who they are and what they are learning.
We need a strings instructor for our program to continue.
Students need someone who is professional and can help them learn to play well, correctly, and for fun. We need someone who understands the instruments and is also understanding of children. A class visitor will help our program continue to grow. It will also give our students something to work toward, learning to set goals.
