Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students have been sent to me because they made errors at their school. They come to me for a temporary placement. They need guidance to mature emotionally so that they can be successful in life. My students come to me feeling unwanted and incapable.

My kids matter!

They have been sent away from their school to learn how to behave appropriately. My job is to teach them skills that they can use at school, at home, and in the community. My hope is that they learn these skills and then pass on their knowledge to other kids.

Most of my kids do not have support at home to guide them to success. Most of my kids don't know how it feels to be wanted and loved. They do not know how it feels to matter.

My Project

My students need a reminder that reading is enjoyable. By sitting comfortably in bean bags and reading "What Do You Do With A Problem", "What Do You Do With An Idea", "ish", "The Dot", "I Am Peace", and "Sky Color", we can have discussions about the issues that stop them from reaching their goals. With the paint, mini canvases, and mini easels, my students will be able to express themselves and have a visual reminder of their wonderfulness.

My students feel unworthy and unwanted. They feel like they don't deserve to be happy. Completing this project will show my students that they are capable of creating wonderful things for themselves and others. This project will guide my students in growing emotionally.
