My Project
The mathematics classroom needs an upgrade. For decades, notes have been taken in notebooks or binders because of the nature of mathematics. It is difficult to create or annotate a graph, create geometric models, or even procedurally work through problems without being able to physically write with a pen. Having access to tablets can change that since my students will be able to create, annotate, and solve problems all on the same device. Collaboration will also change from looking at a peer's paper or crowding around a board to seamlessly having students working on a shared document where everyone’s work can be seen and valued.
Students having access to tablets in the classroom will fundamentally change how they interact with mathematics.
I plan to incorporate the tablets into daily classroom routines. Students will use the tablets to take notes on the content being covered in class, collaborate in small groups, and present their work from the comfort of their seats as a classroom practice. Students will then have access to the materials they created in class through the use of Kami so that they will be able to review their notes no matter where they might be.
