My classes are filled with wonderful and compassionate students who are trying to make their school and community a better place for everybody! They attend a small school in a very rural farming community. The students and school are plagued by the poor economics of the area and the continual lessening of funds provided by the state.
Despite these situations, these students want to succeed, and we need to fully prepare them to meet the world!
I must commend their courage and compassion for learning and try to provide them with what they need to get as much education as possible from their homes at this time!
My Project
My students want to continue with their Art classes but I do not have the supplies to send home with them so they can. I can give them work in history and research but they need hands-on activities.
If I have the clipboards, paper and watercolor pencils, they can go outside (in Plein Air) like Renoir, Monet or Karl Dempwolf, do their sketches and turn them into beautiful watercolors with the brushes!
Each student can have their own set to use while they are sequestered by the chaos outside their homes. They can use these supplies as a distraction, for relaxation and mental health as well as to experience the creative process like those before them.
