This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students attend a Title I public school in a diverse community. Our school is one of seven high schools in our city and has a student population of roughly two thousand children.

My students are enthusiastic learners looking for a way to express their inner thoughts and emotions.

The arts allows them such an opportunity, but with very limited supplies on hand their ability to do so is also limited. Help me give this young generation a safe place for them to learn and grow and become happy, productive citizens.

My Project

Plein air painting is about leaving the four walls of your studio behind and experiencing painting and drawing in the landscape. We will be venturing out of the classroom for this project to capture nature while in its presence. We will draw and paint outside and experience the warmth of the sun or the chill of the wind and try to incorporate that physical contact with nature into the artwork. This will give the students a unique opportunity to take their learning out into the world around them and for them to try to interpret that world.
