Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am a media specialist at an inner-city school in Florida. The school caters for kids from ages 4 through 13. Most of our children are on free or reduced lunch. The majority are learning English as a second language. Their parents have recently immigrated to the U.S.

When I took over the library a couple of years ago, I gave it a thorough spring cleaning. I threw out the old carpets, which were embarrassingly dirty. The kids don't sneeze during story-time any more, but the floor tiles that they are sitting on are hard and a little cold.

It would be great to have a new carpet because 1) the kids would be comfortable during story-time. 2) the design on the carpet would allow me to allocate a place to each kid 3) the little kids would have their own special, cool place in the Media Center.
