My Project

Student engagement and differentiated instruction are two key goals of my ELA/ social studies classroom. Guided reading and small group instruction aren't just for the lower elementary grades. When I read with my 5th graders in small groups, I am able to help them set and reach academic goals more effectively than I would be able to do in whole group, lecture style setting. I am requesting stools for flexible seating. Students that work in small groups learn problem solving, team building, and social skills that stretch well beyond the classroom. In order to set them up for a successful future, I believe this style of learning is imperative to their education.

I am more likely to be able to pinpoint areas of weakness in order to target their learning needs.

This allows for specific interventions to be implemented ensuring their success in my classroom as well as moving forward in their academic career.
