Mrs. Farmer from Bedford HTS OH is requesting other through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need two large mobile storage cabinets, small filing cabinet, and a counter height mobile cabinet to teach them how to be organized and increase time on task.

Tempest Grandin said, " It is never too late to expand the mind of a person on the autism spectrum. She also said, "You can't punish a child who is acting out because of sensory overload." The students in our class are serious about learning, but they struggle with staying engaged in lessons.
The students are in a self contained resource room.
They have the opportunity to work with a paraprofessional and a special education teacher. The students are identified as having multiple disabilities or autism. They are a unique group of students who have a zest for learning. They are an inspiration to everyone they meet. They love learning about the world, reading, and math, but they struggle with staying focused. They are easily distracted which can take away from valuable learning time. Time on task is our biggest struggle currently. They can find very creative ways to get off task. They are a wonderful group of students who deserve the best!
We are in great need of getting organized. We have been fortunate to receive loads of materials through grants, friends, parents, and other teachers. Unfortunately we have run out space to store it neatly. The students are very active and are constantly digging through the materials to find their favorite items. Way to much time is spent redirecting them back to task. At times, they can get very upset with not being able to take out their favorite learning tools. This can cause a hostile learning environment. The mobile cabinets will help us maintain our peaceful and supported learning environment. Out of sight, out of mind. The students attention will increase because they will not be able to get to the learning tools or have a visual reminder of how much they want to take the tools out.
Can you imagine a world filled with chaos, and then trying to learn in that chaos?
That's what our children deal with all day long. Your donation will effect the lives of many children for many years to come. Our students will learn the critical skill of organization, which will limit distractions while increasing learning time. This project will allow the students to focus on mastering learning goals.
