Words cannot describe how excited I am to have my first classroom! Due to the fact this is my first year teaching, I am trying to grow and expand my resources! In addition, our students come from a variety of different economic backgrounds with 100% of students receiving free breakfast and lunch.
My school is also one of the most ethnically diverse schools in the city, where students speak a multitude of languages.
As diverse as our students are economically and culturally, they are diverse in their academics. Every day, I make sure to welcome my students with a smile on my face and, in return, they exchange a smile back, ready to learn and succeed. Despite many hardships my students may face, they are eager and put in their best effort. They know that our classroom is never about a perfect outcome; it is instead about the risks and effort put forth. My students certainly deserve a successful and engaging classroom, where they can become lifelong learners.
My Project
Dear Donors, our fourth-grade classroom is hoping to incorporate poetry and figurative language into our room. We are hoping for lessons which engage students and help them with parts of poetry including simile metaphor and much more. We are also hoping to include dramas so that our fourth-graders can do a comparison of poems using dramas within our classroom. Poetry is a huge part of the Curriculum and we are hoping to have his materials before we have our assessment test for the state. Figurative language is also a massive part of poetry and through activities and read-alouds, such as specifics texts, we can learn all about figurative language and close reading. My students will be able to complete partner work through kits. In addition, I am hoping for texts which will assist in generating writers within our classroom. Read aloud books will also assist in teaching students figurative language, poetry, and writing. I am hoping for readers theatre and freedom riders to link poetry and drama together. Thank you so much in advance for your support and reading our message.
