This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Students use burets in labs to analyze and identify unknown substances - a crucial college skill for careers in medicine or research. Titration burets are standard for any Chemistry lab classroom- unfortunately, they are expensive. Burets are manufactured to be precise measuring instruments- a student must be able to read exactly how much liquid was dispensed from a buret when performing an analysis.

The AP Chemistry lab curriculum, outlined by College Board, requires that students conduct several different titration labs throughout the year.

We would greatly appreciate your support to replenish our student lab with burets. These will benefit both AP and Honors/General Chemistry classes. We have some old burets that are broken and need to be replaced. The plastic/acrylic type burets are the most durable, they have lasted much longer than glass burets and the acrylic burets are priced less than or comparable to most lab stores' glass burets. With a sufficient number of burets, large classes will be able to share them in groups of two, instead of having to work in groups of 4 or 5.

To keep our A.P. Chemistry lab up to date, I must rely on donations or grants. We currently have 5 functioning acrylic burets that are 10 years old - so even though they are expensive they do last for many years. Additional burets will greatly improve my current lab set. Hopefully, in a few years, I can build up to a newer set of 20 or more. For an ideal Chemistry lab experience, students should only have to work in groups of two. Any donation would help, thank you!
