Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a English language arts special education teacher. My classroom is in desperate need of a classroom printer and toner. My students would really benefit from being able to print out final projects and take pride in their work.

My students are classified as physically learning disabled or emotionally disturbed.

On top of the special education classification, they face insurmountable obstacles. Some live in shelters, others have parents who are incarcerated, siblings in gangs, etc. Often they are stressed and frustrated with their environment. With that said, their families have no money to invest in technology in their homes, which leaves school the only source for exposure. Under the new Common Core standards rolling out nation wide, teachers are expected to use technology in order to create 21st century thinkers and learners.

My Project

With the recent budget cuts, our school lost a significant amount of money for providing necessary classroom resources. My students look forward to technology based projects and activities within each unit of study. With Common Core standard changes rolling out nation wide, technology use is a required component to make our students college and career ready. Teachers are directed to use technology within the curriculum, but not supplied with necessary components. Our school has some laptops, but is lacking functional printers. I am requesting a high yield Lexmark printer to create a physical copy of their final projects and activities for their English language arts portfolios.

Please support my proposal and help me acquire a high yield printer for our classroom.

Thank you in advance for making the decision to seek out Donorschoose and support education!
