This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am an English as a Second Language teacher in a large urban elementary school with many economically disadvantaged students, including many English language learners. We have been out of school since 3/12 due to COVID19.

My students are talented, engaging, curious and eager to learn!

They face many challenges, but this does not stop them. I have never seen students with such perseverance and drive to succeed.

School closure is a serious hardship for most of them and their families, both financially and emotionally.

My Project

Many of our students at my school do not have access to technology at home, which puts them at a distinct disadvantage during the recent school closures. The school has distributed all of its older Ipads to families who needed one, yet we still have many students who do not have the technology. The purchase of these tablets will allow 4 more families access to online learning opportunities while schools are closed. Without this technology, they will not be able to adequately keep up with their learning.

Please help my students access all of the educational opportunities available to them!
