This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are happy children who come to school ready to learn. Every day I hear some of them tell me, "I like school" or "I love school!"
I teach kindergarten in a high-poverty-level public school which is so overcrowded that four kindergarten classrooms where moved out into a quad-modular, my classroom being one of the four.
Our classroom is half the size of a standard classroom and without storage cabinets or closets. My kindergarten class consists of 31 English Language Learners, some of which have special needs. Children of this age require differentiated instructional materials and equipment to cater to their diverse learning styles, and these valuable materials and equipment need to be secured in cabinets . . . storage cabinets.
My Project
I will be able to store and have readily available materials such math counters and puzzles, CDs for all content area, CDs with songs which help my students to acquire the English Language, our classroom CD player, and our projector for all learners! We will also have easy access for our bingo games: Letters Bingo, Sight Words Bingo, and Numbers Bingo. We must not forget to maintain our Arts and Crafts materials which the children just adore!
