This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
"Organization is what you do before you do something, so that when you do it, it's not all mixed up." ~ A. A. Milne (author of Winnie-the-Pooh)
My students are the most amazing people I have ever met!
They attend a Title I school where all of the students receive free breakfast and 98% receive a free or reduced lunch. Many of my students do not have access to some of the things we take for granted: homes that are filled with books and other literacy-rich items, access to technology outside of school, etc. To add to this, they have disabilities that seriously impact their learning. Still, they come to me each day with a smile on their face, ready to begin a new learning adventure.
My Project
Our classroom is suffering from the mid-year unorganized blues. Classroom materials that once had a happy home in our room have been tossed around and now reside on a random shelf, or worse, in a student's cubby. There is only one thing that will help our blues: we need to become organized!
The binder pockets we are requesting will allow us to separate and categorize all of our learning materials (e.g.: math bingo cards and pieces, word family word and picture match cards). Once learning materials are placed in the binder pockets, they will be put into labeled binders so students can independently access the materials they need when they need it.
The cubbie trays will be used to house our bigger manipulatives. Once everything has its own place in the room, my students will be able to find and return learning materials on their own. No more lost materials! No more confusion! No more mid-year unorganized blues!
Organization is key to a successful classroom.
Binder pockets and cubbie trays will help me organize classroom materials. With your help, my students will be able to independently find the supplies they need as well as return these items to the proper place when not in use. Thank you for considering this project.
