Painting and creating helps motivate students to learn. It helps teachers engage all students even students that are hard to reach. Students learn to problem solve, make connections with subject matters, develop motor skills all while expressing their creativity. Moreover it allows students to explore different types of mediums and gives students opportunities to express themselves and learn from others.
This year our Pre-K curriculum has us create a project after every unit.
The materials I have chosen will help us create these projects. We will be creating a Dinosaur Museum. The children will be creating a mural by painting and drawing giant dinosaurs and making fossils with the playdough. They will also be making a coral reef mural by painting the coral reef and creating sea animals that live there and a Garden Mural with a flower garden. In addition, we are making pinatas and presents for our parents. We use art to answer questions from text by creating characters and setting with playdough, paint, and construction paper.
By using these materials in Pre K, students will develop the skills they will need for Kinderarten and beyond.
