Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach 7th & 8th Science on a daily basis plus a STEAM / STEM Class as an enrichment class. My students light up when it's time for hands-on science. They're curious, creative problem-solvers who deserve proper lab equipment to match their enthusiasm.
Safety goggles will transform our class from passive observation to active experimentation.
Instead of watching me demonstrate reactions from a distance, students can safely conduct experiments themselves. When they wear real lab goggles, they feel like real scientists – and start acting like them too.
Digital scales will teach precision and attention to detail. In science, small differences matter. When students measure reactants down to the tenth of a gram, they learn that accuracy isn't just about getting the right answer – it's about developing good scientific habits that last a lifetime.
The student tool sets (measuring cylinders, droppers, thermometers) mean more hands-on time for everyone. No more waiting for shared equipment or taking turns. Each lab group will have their own tools, leading to deeper engagement and understanding.
My goal is for students to think and work like scientists. With these tools, they'll:
Design their experiments
Learn from mistakes
Collect accurate data
Work in research teams
Build confidence in their abilities
What makes my students special? They never let our limited resources hold them back. They create clever workarounds when equipment is scarce. They ask sophisticated questions even when we can't do complex experiments. Most importantly, they support each other's learning and celebrate each discovery.
These tools won't just help them pass tests – they'll help my students see themselves as capable scientists who can make real contributions to our world. That's the kind of confidence that changes lives.
