Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Donations to this project will directly support the development of our multilingual students’ reading, writing, and speaking skills in both Spanish and English. By adding bilingual books to the classroom library, students will have the unique opportunity to read texts presented in two languages within the same book. This allows them to reinforce their understanding of both languages simultaneously, making their literacy experience richer and more engaging. These specific materials will help students build stronger bilingual competencies that are essential for their academic growth.

Our goal for this project is to empower our second graders to become confident bilingual readers and writers.

We want to create an inclusive learning environment where students can improve their bi-literacy skills and feel proud of their cultural and linguistic backgrounds. By providing access to bilingual books, we encourage students to embrace both languages equally, preparing them to confidently face academic challenges and future opportunities.

What makes our students special is their rich multilingual heritage and their eagerness to learn and grow in two languages. These 30 second graders are enthusiastic learners who will greatly benefit from the chance to read in English and Spanish side by side. Your generous support will make a lasting difference in their educational journey, inspiring them to achieve their full potential as bilingual individuals.
