This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Ninety percent of our amazing students live below or near the poverty line. About 60% of our students are learning English in school. Sometimes our school struggles to get the resources we need to teach and care for our incredible students. This makes the job of a school even more important.
Many students we teach experience poverty, but that's just where they are starting.
Our students love to create art and read. They write computer code and even perform Shakespeare. They have big dreams, and let's help them reach for those dreams!
My Project
This year has been difficult for so many in our community. Many families are struggling to make ends meet during the pandemic and that means some of my students see empty cupboards and refrigerators.
My students love school, but some don't have enough food at home to keep them learning and growing strong; let's fix that!
You will be sending us boxes full of filling, nutritious food, like veggies, beans, soup, granola bars, and more. With your help, all students will have full bellies and be able to focus on learning and the work of growing into a strong smart kids!
More than half of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
